Relationship
between product definitions, processes and equipment
(1 | 2)
Manage equipment specifications
Product definitions hold the specifications to
manufacture products, such as the related process
in the workflow and the constraints and parameters
for the involved equipment. For example, packed
goods are linked to the process ‘packing’, which
groups equipment, such as weighing scales, a label
printer, box filler and a palletiser. For each
piece of equipment, the parameters are stored
in the product definition. On demand, MEScontrol.net
transmits the parameters from the product definition
to the equipment in the work center in realtime.
Client model configuration
The plant layout represents the conversion of
the physical process steps in the production process
(see background) to the ISA-95 compliant client
model: processes, work centers, routing, constraints
(see foreground). The client model consists of
work centers, which are the production units that
group the equipment to execute a specific process.
Other types of work centers are reception areas
and storage zones. The connections between the
work centers, storage zones and reception areas
determine the routing, from intake to expedition,
and the related routing constraints. |
